Does Auto Join Meetings work if my computer is asleep or my browser is closed?
The short answer is: No.
To ensure Auto Join Meetings can automatically open your video call at the exact scheduled time, there are two important system requirements you need to keep in mind:
1. Your Browser Must Be Open
Because Auto Join Meetings is a browser extension, it relies on your browser (Chrome, Edge, etc.) being active.
Will it work if the browser is minimized? Yes! As long as the browser application is running in the background, the extension will wake up and open a new tab for your meeting.
Will it work if the browser is completely closed/quit? No. If the browser is not running, the extension cannot execute its countdown.
2. Your Computer Cannot Be Asleep
If your computer goes into Sleep Mode, Hibernation, or is turned off, all background processes (including your browser) are paused by your operating system to save power.
Pro Tip: If you step away from your desk but want a meeting to automatically open so it's ready when you get back, make sure your computer's power settings are configured to keep the screen on, or use a tool that temporarily prevents sleep mode.
